If you wear glasses, you’re well familiar with the struggles that come along with it. It seems like every day, your lenses end up dusty! Then there’s weather to contend with; if you’re stuck walking through the rain, you almost always have to take your glasses off because they’re not helping. Or maybe it’s the opposite; it’s so sunny that you simply don’t feel comfortable with your glasses on.
It turns out that many people are starting to manufacture weather-proof glasses! They’re not typically known by that name, though, as these “no-glare lenses” have more than just weather benefits going on.
If you’re tired of feeling like you constantly have to replace your lenses, look into no-glare. Their durability doesn’t mean that you can take your glasses off and throw them at the wall, but if you get hit in the face or trip and fall, they will hold up. They may even manage to do that without smudging, which is one of the most common problems. Although no lenses have been made yet that are completely smudge-resistant, they tend to do better than others in hot and humid environments.
No-glare lenses also do well in outdoors environments; they can handle dirt and dust better than most. The idea is that they’re always easy to clean, too. You shouldn’t need to spray and rub, and keep doing that. Instead, it takes a single wipe and they’re good to go. This is particularly beneficial for people who work outside a lot, and find contacts to be more trouble than they’re worth. And like we wondered about in the beginning of this blog post, yes, they dramatically cut down on water spots. You may not be able to comfortably wear them in a thunderstorm or continuous rain, but they will make it at least a little bit easier to get to a dry spot.
We may never be able to invent a pair of glasses that is 100% resistant to anything you may throw at it, but with no-glare lenses, we’re getting pretty close. If you’re constantly feeling like you need to fix or clean your glasses, start thinking about these as an option instead.
